Information and Updates

World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is Thursday, October 10. It is a day to focus on the importance of mental health education, awareness, and advocacy. Normalizing conversations about mental health is important and can help encourage individuals to seek help when they need it. Visit www.tulsaschools.org/mentalhealth to find resources or to connect with our team for support.

Fall Parent and Teacher Conferences
It is time again for fall parent and teacher conferences! While schools have been holding conferences for several days, many are scheduled for later this week. Check your school’s website calendar or reach out to your school to find out when your conferences are scheduled. Find a list of school websites and contact info at tulsaschools.org/contact.

To help you make the most of your time with your student’s teacher, here are some sample questions to help guide your conversation:

  • What does my student’s participation look like?
  • Does my student seem engaged and interested?
  • What are my student’s strongest and weakest subjects?
  • How does my child get along with others?
  • What can I do to help at home?

Tulsa Public Schools Family Survey Update
In late spring 2024, Tulsa Public Schools asked families to participate in a survey to share their feedback with the district and how they felt about their students' learning experiences. Over 2,000 TPS families responded, providing valuable insights that will guide our efforts to improve. Key findings revealed that 74% of respondents indicated they are satisfied with the district and feel good about the overall direction of TPS and its educational services. To read more about the survey findings, visit our website.

Special Education Transition Fair
The annual Transition Fair for Special Education students and families is coming up on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6-8pm at Wilson Teaching and Learning located at 2710 E. 11th St. in Tulsa. The Transition Fair aims to support students and families as they prepare for important transitions in their educational journey. Whether your child is transitioning between grades, moving from school to work, or planning for life after high school, this fair will provide valuable information and resources. The event will feature a variety of local service providers, agencies, and community organizations that offer support in areas such as vocational training, continuing education, independent living, and employment opportunities. There will also be keynote speakers to discuss DDS, DRS, SSI and Guardianship.
